Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Supports Tourism Industry and Communities

Ghost Falls, BC | Black Jorgenson
Industry Update

For Immediate Release
March 18, 2020
Secwépemc Territory (Williams Lake, BC)

The ongoing outbreak of COVID-19 has affected countries around the world, with impacts to people, communities and ways of life on many levels. Recent developments have resulted in a reduction in international and regional travel, with still evolving impacts on the travel and tourism industry and our regional stakeholders.

Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism has heard the concerns of visitors and tourism businesses throughout our region and offers our support.

The story of our region is one of resilience and determination. The people of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast have survived and thrived despite fires, floods and whatever else the world throws at them; we are confident they will continue to be examples of personal, professional and community resiliency.

To support these efforts, we are working closely with health authorities, government, and other industry partners to minimize the impacts of this event and build resiliency in our communities and our industry. We have mobilized as part of the provincial Tourism Emergency Response Team, gathering information from tourism businesses and sharing with government immediate and future needs.

We will be making information available to tourism operators and working directly with impacted businesses to build resiliency and aid recovery.

The region remains a safe place in which to work, travel and live. We advise all visitors, residents and businesses in the region stay up to date on new developments and follow the advice of the relevant authorities to ensure it stays that way. We all have a part to play in this event, and we are confident that by working together we can support the best outcome for our communities, visitors and businesses.
