Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program
The Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP) is a new grant launched by the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation (JERI).
The Government of B.C. is investing up to $33 million this year to create the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program, which will support projects that promote the following:
- Economic diversification
- Resilience
- Clean growth opportunities
- Infrastructure development
There are 3 funding categories – each category targeting different projects types and communities.
1. Economic Capacity (REDIP-EC)
Helping communities build their internal capacity for economic development
- Small rural communities with populations of less than 2,500 or Indigenous communities and organizations
- Eligible lead applicant: Local Governments, Regional Districts, Indigenous Communities and Organizations, Indigenous Development Corporations, or Not-for-Profit organizations.
- Maximum funding amount: 100% of Project Costs up to $100,000 over 2 years.
2. Economic Diversification (REDIP-ED)
Funding projects that promote economic diversification and development. There are two streams in this category – development and implementation
- Small rural communities with populations of less than 25,000 or Indigenous communities and organizations
- Eligible lead applicant: Local Governments, Regional Districts, Indigenous Communities and Organizations, Indigenous Development Corporations, or Not-for-Profit organizations.
- Maximum funding amount:80% of Project costs to a maximum of $100,000 for development projects and $1 Million for implementation projects.
3. Forest Impact Transition (REDIP – FIT)
Supporting economic recovery and transition in communities affected by changes in the forest sector.
- Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities outside Metro Vancouver and the Capita Regional District experiencing or anticipating impacts by changes in the forest sector, including old growth deferrals.
- Eligible lead applicant: Local Governments, Regional Districts, or Indigenous Communities
- Maximum funding amount: 100% up to $500,000
